What is Water Decal?
The water decal is a printing technology that uses water as a carrier to print patterns onto a specific medium and transfer them onto an object’s surface. Water decals are used only after soaking in water. The principle of water decal technology is to print the pattern onto the water decal paper, and then immerse the paper in water, transfer the pattern from the paper onto the target object. The use of water as a carrier separates the pattern from the backing paper and transfers it to the substrate, achieving the principle of indirect printing.

ToggleI. How is the process of water decal?
The process of water decal mainly includes designing the pattern, preparing the materials, applying glue, soaking the water decal, laminating, drying and fixing.
Water transfer paper is a special kind of paper which has strong adhesion and stickiness. Apply the water transfer glue evenly to the designed pattern area. Be careful to avoid too much or too little glue, which may affect the adhesion of the water decal.
Next, soak the water decal. Soak the glue-coated paper in water for a period of time, usually 10-20 seconds. In this way, the glue on the paper will be activated by the water, forming a sticky gel-like substance.
Then, laminate. Remove the soaked water transfer paper from the water and fit it to the surface of the object. Be careful to fit the water decal paper flat so that the paper is in close contact with the surface of the object.
Then, drying. Place the object to which the water decal paper has been applied in a well-ventilated area and allow it to dry with natural air. Once the object is completely dry, heat it using a tool to ensure that the water decal paper is fully set.
Finally, set the shape. Apply a backing to the surface of the dried object to increase the durability and transparency of the water decal. The backing will form a protective film that will allow the water decal to better resist scratching and fading.
II. What are the advantages of water decal?
Water decal has several advantages over traditional printing, transfer printing, or pad printing. Water decal can easily handle complex shapes and can be applied to different materials. The vivid and lively colors and patterns of water decal can significantly enhance the product’s added value. Its characteristics include:
(1) Can be applied to the surface of any object with any curvature or contour, making it more versatile than pad printing.
(2) The product’s colors are bright and the ink layer is thick, with a strong sense of the main body of the pattern, making it more vivid and lively than other printing methods.
(3) Water decal can be used for complex patterns with dot and gradient effects, making the printing process simpler and more convenient.
Water decal technology is widely used in the field of water bottles, which can be applied to various types of bottles, including glass bottles, ceramic cups, stainless steel bottles, tritan bottles and so on. Water decal technology can achieve a variety of patterns, texts and colors customized printing and decoration, which can meet the different needs of customers for personalized products.
In general, the application of water decal technology in the field of bottles can achieve customized, personalized printing and decoration effects to meet the different needs of consumers. The application of water decal technology provides water bottle manufacturers with an efficient, diversified, environmentally friendly and healthy way of printing and decorating, which can meet the increasing demand of consumers for the aesthetics and personalization of bottles, and improve the differentiation and competitiveness of products. In the future, with the continuous innovation and development of water decal technology, the application of water decal technology in the field of bottles will be more extensive and in-depth, bringing more business opportunities and development space for water bottles manufacturers.
