What is silk-screen-printing?
Ⅰ.What is silk-screen-printing?
Silk-screen-printing is a technique that uses mesh to press ink onto the surface of water bottles to form patterns or text. Silk-screen-printing is characterized by rich colors, strong texture, and good durability.Silk-screen-printing refers to the process of using a screen as the base and using photosensitive plate making methods to create a screen printing plate with graphics and text. Silk-screen-printing consists of five main elements: screen printing plate, scraper, ink, printing platform, and substrate. The basic principle of using screen printing plates is that the holes in the graphic and textual parts can pass through ink, while the holes in the non graphic and textual parts cannot pass through ink for printing. During printing, ink is poured into one end of the screen printing plate, and a scraper is used to apply a certain amount of pressure to the ink area on the screen printing plate. At the same time, it moves at a constant speed towards the other end of the screen printing plate. During the movement, the ink is squeezed onto the substrate by the scraper from the mesh holes in the graphic and text parts.
Ⅱ.What is the operational principle of silk-screen-printing?
Screen printing consists of five main elements, namely screen printing plate, scraper, ink, printing platform, and substrate. The basic principle of screen printing is to use the basic principle of using the screen printing plate to allow ink to pass through the mesh holes of the graphic and textual parts, while the non graphic and textual parts do not allow ink to pass through the mesh holes for printing. When printing, pour ink onto one end of the screen printing plate, apply a certain pressure to the ink area on the screen printing plate with a scraper, and move towards the other end of the screen printing plate. Ink is squeezed onto the substrate by the scraper from the mesh of the graphic and text parts during movement. Due to the adhesive effect of ink, the imprint is fixed within a certain range. During the printing process, the scraper always makes linear contact with the screen printing plate and substrate, and the contact line moves with the scraper. Due to the gap between the screen printing plate and substrate, the screen printing plate generates a reaction force on the scraper through its own tension during printing, which is called rebound force. Due to the effect of rebound force, the screen printing plate and the substrate only come into contact in a movable line, while the other parts of the screen printing plate are detached from the substrate. Causing ink and screen to break and move, ensuring printing dimensional accuracy and avoiding rubbing and dirtying of the substrate. When the scraper scrapes across the entire layout, lift it up, and at the same time, lift the screen printing plate and gently scrape the ink back to its initial position.
Ⅲ.What are the advantages of silk-screen-printing?
1.Strong printing adaptability
Screen printing can not only be printed on flat surfaces, but also on substrates with curved surfaces, spherical surfaces, and concave convex surfaces. On the other hand, screen printing can not only print on hard materials, but also on soft materials, without being limited by the texture of the substrate. In addition, in addition to direct printing, screen printing can also use indirect printing methods as needed, that is, screen printing is first used on gelatin or silicone plates, and then transferred to the substrate.
2.Strong three-dimensional sense
The ink layer thickness for offset and embossing with rich texture is generally 5 microns, for gravure printing it is around 12 microns, for flexographic (aniline) printing it is 10 microns, while for screen printing it is much thicker than the aforementioned ink layer, usually up to 30 microns. Screen printing can not only be used for monochrome printing, but also for color matching and screen printing. It can use various inks and coatings, not only slurry, adhesives, and various pigments, but also coarser particles of pigments. In addition, the ink mixing method for screen printing is simple, and the light resistance of screen printing products is stronger than that of other types of printing products, making them more suitable for outdoor advertising and signage.
3.Large printing area
The maximum area size printed by general offset printing, embossing and other printing methods is the full sheet size. If it exceeds the full sheet size, it is limited by mechanical equipment. Screen printing can be used for large-area printing, and today’s screen printing products can reach a maximum range of 3 m x 4 m, or even larger.
Ⅳ.What is the application of silk-screen-printing?
The application of silk-screen-printing is very extensive. In the printing industry, silk-screen-printing is widely used to print various materials such as logos, trademarks, advertisements, etc. In the electronics industry, silk-screen-printing is widely used in printed circuit boards, display screens, and other applications. In the textile industry, silk-screen-printing is widely used to print various textile patterns, designs, etc. In addition, silk-screen-printing is also applied in industries such as automobiles, healthcare, toys, etc.
Overall, screen printing is a very practical printing technology widely used in fields such as printing, electronics, and textiles. With the continuous development of technology, silk-screen-printing is also constantly innovating and improving, providing more efficient and high-quality printing services for various industries. In the future, we believe that silk-screen-printing will continue to develop and provide better printing services for more industries.
