Haers Achieves Carbon Neutrality Certification

We are proud to announce that Zhejiang Haers Vacuum Containers Co., Ltd. has been officially certified Carbon Neutral for the full year 2024 — independently verified against ISO 14068-1:2023 by SGS, the world’s leading inspection and certification body. This milestone reflects years of deliberate, engineering-driven emission reductions and signals our binding commitment to reach net zero operations by 2050.

What is ISO 14068-1:2023 Carbon Neutrality Certification?

ISO 14068-1:2023 is the international standard that defines what it truly means for an organization to be “carbon neutral.” It is not a marketing label — it is a rigorously audited, science-based framework developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

To earn this certification, a company must:

  • Measure every greenhouse gas (GHG) emission across Scope 1 (direct emissions from owned operations) and Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased electricity and energy);
  • Reduce those emissions as far as technically and economically feasible through real operational changes;
  • Offset only the unavoidable residual balance using verified, retired carbon credits;
  • Submit the entire process to an accredited independent third-party auditor to a “reasonable level of assurance” — the same standard applied in financial audits.

Our certification — Opinion CN25/00001388 — was issued by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd. on 6 March 2025, covering the period 1 January to 31 December 2024, with a formal commitment to maintain carbon neutrality through 31 December 2050.

The Numbers Behind Our Achievement

Our 2024 carbon neutrality was accomplished through a clear, two-stage strategy: genuine operational emission reductions first, followed by verified offsetting for the unavoidable residual balance.

Key verified figures:

  • 25,319.16 metric tonnes of CO₂ equivalent actively reduced through operational improvements
  • 0 metric tonnes of CO₂ equivalent removed through carbon removal projects
  • 3,548.45 metric tonnes of CO₂ equivalent offset via the purchasing and retirement of verified carbon credits
  • 27,417.5 metric tonnes of CO₂ equivalent — total verified emissions on a location-based basis
  • 3,548.45 metric tonnes of CO₂ equivalent — total verified emissions on a market-based basis

These results were achieved through concrete engineering initiatives across our three Yongkang production facilities:

  • Eliminating the traditional cleaning-and-drying process at our second factory’s hardware workshop, replacing it with an energy-efficient drying tunnel system;
  • Installing waste-heat recovery technology on air compressors at our new factory;
  • Deploying on-site photovoltaic solar power generation;
  • Procuring verified green electricity and green electricity certificates.

Why This Certification Matters

For Consumers

When you choose a Haers product from our 2024 production, you are choosing a bottle born from a carbon-neutral operation — not a self-declared claim, but one verified on-site by the world’s most trusted certification body. Specifically:

  • The carbon neutrality claim has been verified by SGS auditors who physically visited all three of our Yongkang facilities on 20–21 February 2025;
  • The standard used (ISO 14068-1:2023) requires evidence-based documentation, not estimates or guesses;
  • Your purchase supports a manufacturer that has legally committed to maintaining carbon neutrality through 2050.

For Procurement & B2B Buyers

Supply chain sustainability has become a legal and reputational imperative for brands worldwide. Sourcing from a verified carbon-neutral manufacturer like Haers directly benefits your own ESG reporting:

  • ISO 14068-1:2023 certification satisfies Scope 3 supply-chain due-diligence requirements under EU, UK, and North American sustainability reporting frameworks;
  • Our verified Scope 1 and Scope 2 data — audited to below a 5% materiality threshold — integrates directly and cleanly into your own GHG inventory calculations;
  • Our legally binding commitment to a 50% GHG reduction by 2024 (market-based) and an 8% annual reduction through 2030 (location-based) demonstrates that we are a long-term, future-proof manufacturing partner;
  • All GHGs covered include CO₂, CH₄, N₂O, HFCs, PFCs, SF₆, and NF₃ — a comprehensive, full-spectrum inventory aligned with IPCC Sixth Assessment Report GWP100 values.

For the Planet

  • Over 28,867 metric tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions were addressed in a single year — the equivalent of taking thousands of petrol cars off the road;
  • The vast majority of our neutrality comes from real, permanent operational change — not financial offsetting. Carbon credits were used only for the irreducible residual balance;
  • Our roadmap to reach “residual emissions only” by 2050 is formally codified in the certification — it is not aspirational language, it is a binding commitment documented with SGS.

Our Roadmap to Net Zero

Carbon neutrality in 2024 is a milestone, not the finish line. Our reduction commitments are structured and time-bound:

  • 2022–2024 (Market-Based Method): Reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions at the organizational level by 50% against our baseline;
  • 2025–2030 (Location-Based Method): Reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 8% per year on a linear trajectory — consistent with science-aligned 1.5°C pathways;
  • 2050: Only residual GHG emissions remain. Full transition to net zero operations across all facilities.

These targets are not internal aspirations — they are formally stated in the ISO 14068-1 certification issued by SGS and are subject to ongoing independent verification.

About the Verifier: SGS

The certification was issued by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd., part of the SGS Group — the world’s leading testing, inspection, and certification company operating in more than 140 countries.

SGS conducted a rigorous two-day on-site verification visit across all three of our Yongkang production sites (No.1 Haers Road; No.2,6 East Haers Road; No.968 Jindu Road) on 20–21 February 2025. The verification was led by Lead Auditor Vickie ZHAO and reviewed by Technical Reviewer Harry Lv, following the requirements of ISO 14064-3:2019.

SGS formally affirms its complete independence from Haers, with no bias or conflicts of interest — ensuring the integrity and credibility of this certification for all stakeholders, from individual consumers to global procurement teams.
